Jorge Eduardo “Tito” Rodríguez Flor is a musician, composer, arranger, and Jazz promoter born in Monterrey, Nueva León, Mexico. He is known for his unique style of playing the fretless six-string bass, which often gets mistaken for a guitar as it takes the lead in his performances. His friends in Monterrey describe his playing “as if he makes the bass talk”, while his musician friends in Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, consider him “the best non-consolidated Mexican bass player they have ever heard”. Accompanied by his band, he presents a diverse range of melodies that bring vibrant energy to his music, infused with the rhythm of Jazz.

At an early age, he pursued his music studies at the Universidad Regiomontana and started performing with various music groups in Monterrey. In 1982, he was invited to join Jazz and versatile music groups in Mazatlán. In 1986, he relocated to Puerto Vallarta, where he worked on jazz projects and organized the Puerto Vallarta Festival of the Arts (held in May and November of each year) and the first-ever Spring Jazz Music Festival. He also produced and directed two “Jazz Hecho en México” (Jazz Made in Mexico) festivals in the city. Between 1995 and 1998, he went to San Francisco, California, to study intensive courses in harmony and composition at the University of Music in San Francisco. During this time, he collaborated with notable musicians. He performed at various jazz festivals in California, such as Newport and Monterey, with musicians like Jackie King, the guitarist and musical director of Willy Nelson, Tom Coster, the pianist of Carlos Santana, and Melecio Magdaluyo, among others.

Jorge “Tito” Rodríguez Flor is a prominent jazz promoter who currently resides in Los Cabos. He is known for producing nine Jazz Hecho en México festivals, including the Baja California Sur edition. In addition, he served as the artistic director of the nine Jazz festivals “San José Jazz Weekend” (San José del Cabo, B.C.S. 2013-2022). His contribution to the jazz scene in Baja California Sur earned him recognition as a vital jazzman in the “Atlas del Jazz” Mexico edition.

Tito is currently the artistic director of the Jazz Club “Jazz On the Rocks at Sunset Point”. The club has hosted performances by renowned figures such as Stevie Wonder, Richie Cannata (Billy Joel’s saxophonist), Doug Web (saxophonist, music director of The Simpsons, and musical creator of different Hollywood movies), Andrea Miller (singer from Los Angeles, California, winner of the Sarah Vaughan Award), Tony Royster Jr. (American drummer), among others. Distinguished Mexican musicians such as pianist Mario Patrón, Emanuel Cisneros, Chopis, Ricardo Amadeus, Giovanni Figueroa, Diego Franco, Francisco Lelo de Larrea, Olson Joseph, Roberto Arballo “Betuco”, among many others, have also performed at the club.
