Diego Ramírez Trio
Daline and Diego Ramírez Trio
are the jazz in Cabo!
DALINE JONES
Daline’s voice, a unique blend of power, sparkle, and a soft, sultry coolness, has drawn comparisons to Adele, Natalie Cole, and Diana Krall. Yet, a single listen will reveal that Daline’s voice is entirely her own. Her style, a blend of class and polish, warmth and welcome, invites her audience to ‘Come in, stay awhile, let’s enjoy this.’ She has a remarkable ability to make her audience feel like long-time friends.
Daline’s musical journey is deeply rooted in her family. Her singing and songwriting skills are a testament to her famous Beat-poet father, Jazz surrealist Ted Joans. He foresaw her artistic future, naming her after his fellow Surrealist, Salvador Dalí. Ted ensured that Daline’s formative years were filled with the sounds of Jazz, experienced live in the clubs of their native New York City. Her time near Detroit, MI, exposed her to the Motown sound, further enriching her musical education. This early, fortunate exposure to Jazz and R&B set her on the path to a life in music, and her extensive experience onstage has made her a relaxed professional.
Daline musical peak experience happened on November 11, 2020, when Stevie Wonder showed up (unexpectedly and unannounced) at her gig at Cabo’s “Jazz On The Rocks.” The band did not know he was in the house until a waiter came up and told them, “Stevie Wonder wants to come up onstage with you!” Daline remembers, “We thought Stevie wanted to play, so Diego offered him the piano, but he loved how Diego played and instead joined me in singing ”Summertime.” It was incredible! Luckily, a waiter captured the spontaneous performance on a cell phone so we could all enjoy the video forever.
Daline’s musical journey is marked by significant milestones. Her earliest recording sessions were for Lionel Richie and the Commodores, where she worked with the top studio session vocalists in the business. She then went on to release several critically acclaimed albums, achieving a spot in Billboard’s ‘Top 20’ on the Contemporary Jazz charts.
Headlining the famous Starlight Room in San Francisco, Daline was the lead singer for the renowned Starlight Orchestra from 1995-2005 before moving to Los Cabos, Mexico, where she now makes her home.
She works with pianist/composer Diego Ramirez in the best venues in Cabo. They frequently perform at the famous Zinco Jazz Club in Mexico City, and they have headlined the San Jose Jazz Weekend, San Miguel de Allende Jazz & Blues Festival, and the Life Luxe Jazz Experience. Now, they are going to Copenhagen, Denmark, to perform as part of the prestigious Copenhagen Jazz Festival in July 2024.
Together, Daline and Diego have written and recorded many original songs and several albums/CDs. They are currently working on a new album of original songs for release in 2024.
Daline lives full-time near Cabo (away from town, off the grid) with her husband and their rambunctious dog. When she isn’t gigging or recording, Ms. Jones loves teaching yoga and is a certified professional yoga instructor. “Yoga, singing, and life; it’s all about the breath, so let’s breathe consciously,” says this multi-faceted mix of talent.
